Take the Travel Pledge

Did you know that tourism is one of the world’s largest industries and employs approximately 10% of the world’s population! Tourism is also the fastest-growing industry in the world and it can be a source of environmental degredation if it is not properly managed.

As a tourist you are part of this industry and your actions can help make tourism be as environmentally-friendly as possible. By pledging to take some or all of the actions below you will help to preserve our favorite destinations for future generations.

Not sure that you can complete an action? Don’t worry, we provide you with our Green Travel Tips, the tools and resources you’ll need to follow through on your pledge.

Before I travel I will:

Book my trip with an award winning responsible travel company

Offset my trip's carbon emissions

Take 10 minutes to learn about the key cultural and conservation issues in my destination

On every trip I will:

Conserve Energy: Turn of lights and set A/C to a higher temperature when I leave my room

Reuse and Recycle bottles and plastic containers

Book my day-trip activities with a locally owned tour operator

Avoid souvenirs made from threatened or endangered species (e.g. turtle products, conch, and certain leathers)

Avoid critically endangered seafood such as Rockfish, Atlantic Halibut, Orange Roughy, and Spiny Lobster

Obey posted signs when visiting cultural sites or parks
